Explore how CDH climate data can support the Multifunctional Landscapes Science Program, with focus on digital twins, geospatial intelligence frameworks, and MRV/adaptation tracking across 9 living labs.
Brief
Background & rationale
The Multifunctional Landscapes (MFL) Science Program (AoW2: Landscape Optimization & Inclusive Planning) works across 9 living labs to advance evidence-based landscape planning, implementation, and scaling. Its portfolio includes digital twins, geospatial intelligence frameworks, early warning systems (EWS), foresight tools, and MRV/adaptation tracking systems.
Initial contact with Chris Kettle (MFL) in June 2026 identified two areas most relevant to the CDH:
- Digital Twins & Geospatial Intelligence Framework — landscape digital twins and digital shadows, integrated geospatial and biodiversity intelligence, high-resolution data and interoperability, scenario modelling and early warnings.
- Digital Decision Support, Digital Advisory & MRV — MRV, monitoring and reporting systems, AI-enabled decision support and adaptive management, citizen science and restoration tracking.
The nature and scope of CDH involvement is yet to be defined.
